Sometimes a tooth or teeth need to be removed due to severe infection, and/or the tooth cannot be repaired with a high probability of success. Before any extraction, Dr. Paris will discuss with you the process and your best options.
Often patients are uncertain of the procedures and have many questions, such as the following, which Dr. Paris will take time to explain during your consultation:
Discussing these and other treatment options fully informs the patient in order to make the best health and financial decision.
Depending on your age and health status, Dr. Paris will review several options to ensure your bone properly heals after the extraction. As we age, bone heals more slowly without additional help. The additional help comes by way of bone grafting materials, some of which help form a blood clot, initiating the healing process. Other materials by way of synthetic and human-derived bone grafting materials help hasten healing in the compromised jaw structures.
Dr. Paris does not use animal-derived bone grafting materials, which are cheaper and less effective than human grafting materials. These human grafting materials are the same bone grafting materials used in plastic surgery and orthopedic surgery in the majority of US-based hospitals today.
To ensure your comfort during your extraction(s) Dr. Paris provides a light sedation to make the procedure as comfortable as possible.
